Ik schiet nog te kort in mijn financieringsmogelijkheden. Ik hoop dat de heer Eric Kroes uit Ternaard ons nu ook van dienst kan zijn. Gisteravond ben ik weer eens aan het werk getogen met het actualiseren van mijn website. In mijn brieven aan jou naar aanleiding van de 350-jarige Vrede van Munster rond 7 juni 1998 kwam ik zijn naam weer tegen (aangehecht) ref. Fundraising, Sponsoring (1), Business Plan, Sponsoring (2) en 28 november In dit verband werd ik gisteren aangenaam verrast tijdens het Bevrijdingsconcert in Amsterdam in aanwezigheid van H.M. de Koningin, tezamen met Alexander Rinnooy Kan, een mij zeer aansprekend nummer uit The Young Tchaikovski te hebben gehoord. Zij riepen beelden op van de Thames op 3 augustus 1996.

Dat idee van ons symfonie-orkest begint nu ook tot leven te komen. In mijn brief van 25 juni 1998 aan de heer Kroes lees ik: "Giften worden gedaan zonder dat er een contractueel afdwingbare tegenprestatie tegenover staat. Sponsoring kent wel een tegenprestatie en mag volgens de belastingdienst worden gerekend tot aftrekbare bedrijfskosten." Is er nou niemand die de Stichting Cervantes Benelux een gift kan schenken waarmee alle gemaakte kosten kunnen worden vergoed zodat ik mij vanaf vandaag uit die stichting kan terugtrekken? Dat zou de kabinetsformatie ook aanzienlijk vergemakkelijken. Gerrit Zalm heeft die claim van mij immers nog steeds als een molensteen om zijn nek. En ik wil die zaak nu eens en voor altijd uit de wereld om mij op ons bedrijf te kunnen concentreren. Op mijn brief van 30 september 1998 heb ik geen reactie meer ontvangen. Gezien mijn verzoek om het Tweede Concert for Life in Leeuwarden te organiseren bekruipt mij het gevoel dat de voorgenomen reis van Pim Fortuyn naar Leeuwarden vorig jaar daar mee te maken had. Ik denk dan ook dat Volkert van der Graaf uit Harderwijk heeft gepoogd die reis te voorkomen. Ik kan mij geen ander motief voorstellen. Dat is mijn visie op die zaak. Zo lees ik vandaag eveneens in de Telegraaf: Geldboete voor lekken naam Volkert van der G. De naam 'Van der Graaf' is overigens afkomstig van de Belgische televisie. Aangezien ik Harry Mens op 28 november 1997 nog in de Pieterskerk in Leiden heb getroffen en hem in een later stadium in Hotel des Indes volledig van mijn positie terzake op de hoogte heb gesteld, mag ik aannemen dat mijn vermoeden juist is. Ref. Spaans Staatsbezoek t.a.v. de Minister-President van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden. De KRO-gids vermeldt vandaag terzake: Politicus of messias? DOCUMENTAIRE PIM FORTUYN. Een vreemde zienswijze van Fons de Poel - een trouwe NEC-supporter op de Goffert - waarmee ik mij moeilijk kan verenigen. Ik heb nog altijd het meeste vertrouwen in mijn eigen 'paarse' uitgangspunten van beleid onder het motto: eerst geld verdienen, dan pas uitgeven. Dat betekent ook eerst investeren voordat het kan worden terugverdiend. Vandaar mijn tekening van 19 oktober 1994 naar aanleiding van de erkenning die JIJ mij vier jaar eerder voor mijn werkzaamheden hebt gegeven.

Rond bevrijdingsdag 1995 heb ik (bijna) alle hierop afgebeelde personen een kleurenkopie van deze tekening doen toekomen. Ik kijk nog even naar die tekening. Te beginnen met S.R.M. Koning Juan Carlos de Borbón y Borbón en H.M. Koningin Beatrix van Oranje-Nassau (Zu Lippe Biesterfeld de facto, of 'Von Heyden zu Lippe?'). Het WorldWideWeb in statu nascendi, het familiewapen Van der Heyden van Baak tot Doornenburg met 'ons' familiekasteel (rechts), het 'vlieg-tuig' van Loek van Munster (The Kingmaker), John van der Heyden en Peter Ottenhoff als Don Quijote (rood) en Sancho Panza (geel). Links het Slot van Oranje met Liesbeth Halbertsma en Henk Lulofs op de trans van de toren. Daaronder nog twee ridders met de namen Jan en Alexander. 'Jan' is de heer 'Jan Wilzing', die in die tijd heeft getracht het groeiproces van 'Cervantes' een tijd tot stilstand (rust) te brengen. Als een tuinman. Om mijn 'tuintje te wieden', zoals Teun Leuftinck uit Hummelo mij had geadviseerd. Om precies te zijn van 1 mei 1993 tot 1 december 1994. De andere ridder heet Alexander. Hierbij had ik twee personen in gedachten: onze kroonprins en Alexander Rinnooy Kan. Ziehier de selffulfilling prophecy die gisteren is uitgekomen: Alexander Rinnooy Kan op de plaats die tot voor kort door Prins Claus is ingenomen. Het zij zo. Zodra iemand overlijdt dient er in de vacature te worden voorzien. Gisteren is een tante van mij overleden. Zij was gehuwd met wijlen Arnoldus van der Heijden, een broer van mijn vader zaliger. De stamvader uit Zutphen (1528-1607) had dezelfde naam. Dat kan geen toeval zijn. De laatste brief die ik heb ontvangen van Alexander Rinnooy Kan dateert van 16 april 1996. Zolang heb ik dus op jou gewacht. Geduldig. Zeven Jaar. Degene die mijn brief toen heeft ondertekend was Bert Hortensius. Daarvoor kwam hij af en toe even van Nijmegen naar Noordwijk. Ik hoor jou nu nog zeggen: "John, Goede brief". Klaarblijkelijk was het nodig om tot september 1997 te wachten om opnieuw te tekenen. Met rode inkt, zoals tijdens mijn laatste bezoek aan de Parallelboulevard na mijn reis door Spanje. Bert Hortensius is ook niet meer. Die plaats moet nu dus ook weer worden ingevuld. Daar ben ik toe bereid. Ik schiet ook nog tekort in mijn gezichtsvermogen. Klaarblijkelijk zit ik te vaak en te lang achter mijn computers. Ik herinner mij als de dag van gisteren dat ik in Hoofddorp aan het werk was tussen al die meiden, waar bijna geen land mee te bezeilen viel. Een 'zootje ongeregeld' dat jij wist te motiveren. Elke dag om vier uur stond je dan achter mij en keek mee over mijn schouders. Soms in aanwezigheid van GG, de marketing-architect achter 'ons bedrijf'. Ik denk dat ik die positie nu moet innemen. Jongelui dienen mijn computerwerk over te nemen. Ik dien het uitsluitend te controleren. Als een ouderwetse onderwijzer als Hans Mulder, die resultaat verwacht.

Ik heb er echter wel persoonlijke bezwaren tegen dat Diana's slaapkamer voor het bezoek wordt opengesteld, zoals dat van de Duke of Marlborough op 7 augustus 1996. 19.00 Spontaan telefoontje van een Engelsman op mijn gsm. met "apologies". Veel mensen op de achtergrond. Het deed mij denken aan de giftshop van Althorp House of een bijeenkomst in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Ik hoop dus dat er nu Schot in de zaak komt. Ik denk in dit verband aan de emailcontacten die ik terzake met Althorp House heb gehad. Op het moment dat Jan Wilzing voor de derde maal in het RTL4-journaal verscheen werd er gebeld. Geen verbinding. Dit is voor mij het teken om tot actie over te gaan richting Verenigd Koninkrijk.

It was an emotional and heavy journey from the Netherlands to the United Kingdom in order to fulfill my obligations towards the Spencer Family. With me I carried seven manuscripts of my book Letters to Diana, Princess of Wales, with the original texts of all my letters that I sent to Her concerning our 'Quixotic Quest' in the period 28 August 1996 until 31 August 1997. From September till November 1997 I also had reported to Earl Charles Spencer, directing my letters to Kensington Palace. With Christmas I carried seven copies of the manuscript. I brought the first one to Buckingham Palace on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen. The second one to The Office of Diana at Kensington Palace. The third one to 10 Downing Street on behalf of the Prime Minister. The fourth one to Christie's in Kings Street on behalf of Lord Balfour. The fifth one on Christmas Day to King's College in Cambridge on behalf of the Royal Library. The eighth copy I brought to you when it was already very dark at Great Brington and the seventh one I deposited in the postbox of reverend David Brindley of St. Mary's Church in Warwick. After my removal from Utrecht to Torremolinos in Spain I decided to find a publisher for the book. Therefore I found the editor Trafford Publishing in Victoria, Canada, prepared to edit and publish my book. They sent me ten copies. I wrote in the dedication of the book the following text:

"This book is dedicated to Earl Charles Spencer at Althorp House and to all of them who supported us after the 31st of August 1997".

Also this time I presented 7 copies of the first official edition. The first one to the police of Torremolinos. The second one to the organizers of the Congress of Spanish in the Instituto Cervantes in Utrecht (of which I am legally the owner, although an arrangement still has to be established) on the 16th of March of this year. The third one on last 20ieth of March to the House Archive of Our Royal Family in The Hague (Mr. Woelderink). The fourth one on the same date to the actual and former management - Colleagues - of the Dutch Management Centre 'de Baak' in The Hague. The fifth one to the President of the European Assocation of Teachers in Spanish, during a Congress in Moscow last week, and the sixth one to Galina S. Románova, Chief of the Faculty of Roman Languages of the University of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Foreign Office of Russia in Moscow. One book was sold to a Spanish colleague living in Switzerland. I hope I will be able to present The Seventh Copy at Althorp House. Unfortunately I am running out of money and a huge tax bill is awaiting for payment. Until the 23d of April I will remain in Nijmegen in the Netherlands. On the 23d of April I will go back to Spain. If I can afford it I propose myself to come and visit you before the tourist's season starts and hope you will sell my book to your visitors and reveal The Truth.
