checked your book's sales in our database to be sure there is
no mistake. Unfortunately, your figure is correct. There have
been only 2 copies sold, 1 to a bookseller in Seattle (probably
Amazon) and 1 copy through a book distributor. It is very disappointing
to know that your promotional efforts do not seem to have produced
the desired results (yet). There is no way to explain these situations.
Sometimes promotions and ads work and other times they don't.
There are so many factors involved that no one can predict the
outcome. Testing on a small scale is the only way I know of to
find and verify any marketing technique. If you try a series of
small inexpensive ads, emailings or Internet search engine ads
and monitor the results closely, you may be able to find the "magic formula" that works for your
book. I just did a search on Google.com for the exact phrase
"Princess Diana" and NO "AdWords"
adds showed up. You might want to sign
up for Google's AdWords service to place a small ad on the screen
whenever someone searches for "Princess
Diana". The cost is minimal and
the searchers are pre-selecting themselves as prospects for your
book. Ideally, you would have your ad linked to your book's web
page on our web site so the prospects can order your book. This
technique has worked well for us on Google.com, Overture.com and

this situation will be improved as soon as possible. Last Friday
I presented my book in Moscow
to an officer of the University of International Relations (MGIMO)
of the Foreign Ministry of Russia. I hope Amazon will start as
soon as possible with the publication of my book as well as the
book distributor. I can imagine that they first want to study
the contents of the book and check the facts before putting it
on the market. Also lawyers will be interested. In the Netherlands
I presented my first copies to the Royal Archive in The Hague on
behalf of our Royal
Family and to the former and actual
management of the Dutch employers organization 'De Baak' in The Hague
and Noordwijk. It is likely that they use their own communication
strategies in order to reach their own strategic objectives. Nevertheless
your advice to sign up for Google's AdWords service seems to me
a worthwhile idea. I checked the terms 'Van der Heyden' and 'Diana'
on the search engines About, AltaVista, AskJeves, Best Site First,
CNET, Excite, HotBot, Ilse, Look Smart, Lycos and Rolling Stone,
but my book did not show up anywhere. On January 11, 2002, Ben
Harrison sent me his checklist on which 'notification to search
engines' had been indicated. In that respect Ben Harrison wrote to
me on last 29 January "8(2) - the web page has been created
and is now up and running, and the search engines have been notified
(although it does take several weeks or more for them to process
the information)". So I would like to know which search engines
have been notified and when the information will be processed
by them before I would start additional activities. I am looking

Querida Galina, Mientras estoy mirando las solemnidades en torno
al entierro de la Reina Madre de Gran Bretaña tengo el
honor de enviarte el texto del discurso que pronuncié el
viernes pasado durante la cena de despedida en Moscú.
"Querida Galina y todas
sus colegas que han hecho de este coloquio un gran éxito.
Quiero aprovechar la ocasión de agradecerles para esta
semana. La primera palabra rusa que me enseñó mi
padre fue la palabra "Glasnost", que significa "transparencia"
como me acaban de explicar. Por eso me es gran honor poder revelar
mi secreto en esta ocasión y presentarte ahora mi libro
recien publicado en inglés "Letters to Diana, Princess
of Wales" o sea "Cartas a Diana, Princesa de Gales".
El libro contiene los textos integrales de mis cartas a Diana
a partir del 28 de agosto de1996 hasta el 31 de agosto de 1997
con 400 imágenes. Es el libro de nuestro llamado "Quixotic
Quest" o sea Sendero Quijotesco y el tema principal es edificar
puentes. Edificar puentes entre pueblos, culturas y personas individuales.
Por eso esta mañana me gustó más el texto
de Olga Mungalova con el título: "Algunos aspectos
de la comunicación intercultural: España y Rusia."
No digo más sobre el contenido de esta obra histórica
- a mi modo de ver. En Lorca tendré la ocasión de
hacer una ponencia sobre el cervantismo en el libro. Como puede
ver el libro lleva un número: 006. No se quien vaya a recibir
el número 007. Con Helga ya tenía una conversación
electrónica sobre este asunto. Me quedan ahora dos ejemplares:
uno para la organización del coloquio. El otro en principio
para el señor Pútin. Después de haber leído
mi libro podrás concluir que todavía existen milagros.
Pero primero el libro tiene que ser traducido en ruso. Espero
que el señor Valerio Yovenko puede solucionar este problema
con su equipo en la Universidad Lingüística. El segundo
ejemplar es para Nuestra Presidenta Helga, por supuesto. En mi
dedicatorio de hoy he puesto la frase "Hoy es el primer Día
de un Nuevo Futuro". Graciosamente este Primer Día
coincide con la Fiesta de Pascuas en la Europa Occidental. Por
eso te agradezco para el huevo que me regalaste. Yo considero
este coloquio no solo una nueva etapa en las relaciones entre
Rusia y España, sino también entre Rusia y los demás
pueblos de la Unión Europea entre los cuales los fundadores:
El Benelux. Para eso te entrego también - como fundador
del Instituto Cervantes Benelux - 50 monedas de 50 céntimos
de euros con la imagen de Cervantes, para repartir entre sus colegas.

Acabo de empezar el estudio de
las actas del coloquio con que les felicito para la rápida
elaboración. Sin embargo me gustaría recibir también

el lunes 25 de marzo. Estoy especialmente interesado en la versión
española de la carta de su Ministro Ivanov de Asuntos Exteriores del 24 de marzo pronunciado por su vicerector de
MGIMO, el distinguido señor Ivan Tiulin. Puede ser
de sumo interés para nuestro gobierno 'morado' y el desarrollo
del Instituto Cervantes
en el Benelux y
Reino Unido. Por tu colaboración te quedaré sumamente

van het stoffelijk overschot van
Lady Elizabeth Bowes Lyon van St. James's Palace
naar Westminster Hall. Het stoffelijk overschot van de Queen Mother staat
daar opgebaard op een afuit in de kleuren van mijn
boek. Op de kist ligt een bos witte rozen met de naam 'Princess of Wales'. Tal van bekenden, waaronder de Lord Chamberlain. Hij
regelt alle paleiszaken voor Her
Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. De
'coffin' wordt dag en nacht bewaakt door leden van alle koninklijke
gardes: de Royal Horse Guards, Coldstream Guards, Welsh Guards,
Scotch Guards en Irish Guards. De terugkeer van Hare Majesteit
naar Buckingham Palace leidde tot een loyaal applaus van het gehele
aanwezige publiek langs de route van Whitehall en The Mall. 13.53
Gebeld met Mark in Torremolinos. Er is een brief van het 'ayuntamiento
de Torremolinos' binnengekomen (onder de deur doorgeschoven) d.d.
18 maart 2002. Het zou gaan over 'deudas' vanaf 1999. Vreemde

Ik hoop dat ik nog meer voor je kan doen. Over de verloren gegane
foto's heb ik tot op heden alsvolgt gecommuniceerd met Helga.

de haber vuelto en los Países Bajos empecé con entusiasmo
- pero aún un poco cansado del viaje - con copiar mis fotos
en el disco duro de mi ordenador. Había sacado 702 fotos
en total. Con las primeras fotos no problema. Las del 23 hasta
el 26 de marzo he podido conservar para la posterioridad. El copiar
de los demás 502 fotos dio algunos problemas sin embargo.
Después de haber informado con un técnico como podía
solucionar el problema empujé dos veces el falso botón.
Así que borré todos los demás fotos que se
hallaron en la memoria electrónica de mi cámara
digital. Esto no me ha ocurrido nunca. Lo considero como un desastre
personal. Fueron fotos de gran interés. No solo para mi
personalmente, pero para todos los socios de la AEPE. Lo siento
muchísimo. También para con quienes figuran en las
fotos. Así también el foto del grupo en Sergej Posad
se perdió. Estoy feliz de que Galina ha tomado la iniciativa
de organizar un fotógrafo después del buffet ofrecido
a los participantes del Coloquio el viernes pasado. Espero que
otros/otras participantes del Coloquio me pueden ayudar con mandarme
sus fotos hechos a partir del 27 de marzo hasta el primero de
abril. Esperando poder enviarle mejores noticias sucesivamente

Als voorbeeld ontvang je hierbij mijn Engelstalige versie van
de geplande bedrijfsstructuur van mijn bedrijf in ontwikkeling
d.d. 18 maart jl. Kijk maar eens of dit werkt op jouw computer.
Ik denk dat je de foto kunt 'verwerken' met Adobe Photoshop, na
te hebben gedownload. Zodra je dat is gelukt zal ik je nog een

Dear Friends, As you certainly will remember I visited Althorp
House on Christmas Day
of 1997. It was an emotional and heavy journey from the
Netherlands to the United
Kingdom in order to fulfill my obligations
towards the Spencer
Family. With me I carried seven manuscripts
of my book
'Letters to Diana, Princess of Wales', with the original texts
of all my letters that I sent to Her concerning our 'Quixotic Quest'
in the period 28 August 1996 until 31 August 1997. From September
till November 1997 I also had reported to Earl
Charles Spencer, directing my letters to Kensington Palace. With
Christmas I carried seven copies of the manuscript. I brought
the first one to Buckingham
Palace on behalf of Her
Majesty the Queen. The second one to The Office of Diana at
Kensington Palace. The third one to 10 Downing Street on behalf
of the Prime
Minister. The fourth one to Christie's in Kings
Street on behalf of Lord Balfour. The fifth
one on Christmas Day
to King's
College in Cambridge on behalf of the
Royal Library. The eighth copy I brought to you when it was already
very dark at Great Brington and the seventh one I deposited in the postbox
of reverend David Brindley of St.
Mary's Church in Warwick. After my removal
from Utrecht to Torremolinos in Spain I decided to find a publisher
for the book. Therefore I found the editor Trafford Publishing in Victoria, Canada, prepared to edit and publish my book. They sent
me ten copies. I wrote in the dedication of the book the following
text:
"This book
is dedicated to Earl
Charles Spencer
at Althorp
House and to all
of them who supported us after the 31st of August 1997".
Also this time I presented 7
copies of the first official edition. The first one to the police
of Torremolinos. The second one to the organizers of the Congress
of Spanish in the Instituto
Cervantes in Utrecht (of which I am
legally the owner, although an arrangement still has to be established)
on the 16th of March of this year. The third one on last 20ieth
of March to the House Archive of Our Royal Family in The Hague
(Mr. Woelderink). The fourth one on the same date to the actual
and former management - Colleagues - of the Dutch Management Centre 'de Baak'
in The Hague. The fifth one to the President of the European Assocation of Teachers
in Spanish, during a Congress in Moscow
last week, and the sixth one to Galina
S. Románova, Chief of the Faculty
of Roman Languages of the University of International Relations
(MGIMO) of the Foreign Office of Russia in Moscow. One book was
sold to a Spanish colleague living in Switzerland. I hope I will
be able to present The
Seventh Copy at Althorp House. Unfortunately
I am running out of money and a huge tax bill is awaiting for
payment. Until the 23d of April I will remain in Nijmegen in the
Netherlands. On the 23d of April I will go back to Spain. If I
can afford it I propose myself to come and visit you before the
tourist's season starts and hope you will sell my book to your
visitors and reveal The
